Last year I typed up one of Dad’s Journals of a trip. I have started collecting some of his stories, tales and adventures. The following is one a friend of mine Lois Johnson in Houston, Texas reminded me of today.
One of my favorites was the "air conditioner" for his air-conditioned car.
It had been so hot in the desert that year that he thought and thought and decided to
put a plywood board on top of his car with a space of 4-6 inches between the board and
car roof.
He got the proper attachments for his car from the hardware store, got them
installed, bought his sheet of plywood and clamped it on. He said it looked really
funny and everyone he met thought he was a bit crazy - "BUT, you know," Dad said,
"my car was at least 20 degrees cooler than it had been before! Crazy or not, my
car now has its own air conditioner!" And with that, he laughed at his own joke.
